Brianne Ashley Carter was only 13 years old when she died tragically as she crossed Route 82 after playing a soccer game on October 18, 1998. As an active eighth grader at Charles F. Patton Middle School, Brianne excelled in academics and sports. She was also active in student government and music. Brianne had a great sense of humor, compassion for her fellow human beings, and a wonderful personality. She was loved by all who knew her.

Friends and family of Brianne established the Run for Brianne to create a lasting tribute to Brianne and the qualities she possessed.  Money raised from the event becomes part of the Brianne Carter Memorial Fund, which is affliated with the Chester County Community Foundation.  Each year, using money from the fund, a scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from Unionville High School who demonstrates the same potential for success that Brianne showed in her short lifetime.
